windows  8 can't  start it.
I turn on my Toshiba laptop and all I get is a black screen and a cursor. Leave it as is for an hour and nothing changes. Normally I have to sign in and away I go. What can I do?

Hi Angus,

Some required information are needed for us to help you.

Did a BIOS screen or Windows Logo show when you power up your computer?

Please Re-check the hardware of your laptop if it is still in warranty let manufacturer do that for you.

For Windows startup issue

Typically OEM system has recovery partition for users and you could recover your system from that.

If you have a Windows installation media, also could try boot from it and perform a system repair or system restore.

If you dont have installation media or recovery partition for repair, you might need to send your machine to manufacturer for recovery ask for recovery disk since only Windows OEM edition could be activated by OEM license key.
